Hello and welcome to the newest Altenew Instagram Reel Hop for the month of December, 2023. The topic for the Hop is perfect for the month of December. I created a Winter themed card using Altenew’s Hello Winter stamp set, coordinating dies, distress ink, a stencil and the Dazzling Snowflake stamp and coordinating die.
Here is the card I designed for the Instagram Reel Hop. I love the way it came out and will be my January card.
For this card, I inked the background paper using a blue ink cube and sprayed with water, then used the Altenew Halftone stencil to add inked dots to the background paper. When dry, I die cut it using a rounded corner die from My Favorite Things. The snowflakes were stamped using darker shade of blue ink cubes and die cut two snowflakes. The Winter die using light inked paper and a darker inked paper to create the layered die word. I added a white die cut rectangle for the background and stamped the ‘have a cozy’ word tag. Using a simple single color for the card. Here are photos of the work in progress.

The spotlight is on the sentiment and I created four cards using stamped sentiments from a variety of Altenew’s stamp sets. Here are my four cards and hope you enjoy the simple technique I used for the background.

FOUR CARDS FROM ONE PIECE OF PAPER AND THE SPOTLIGHT ON THE SENTIMENT
I used one sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of white cardstock for the stenciling using the large Altenew Mandala stencil. I centered the stencil in the middle of the white cardstock using mini ink cubes in shades of blue and green from Altenew and a rounded foam tip on a wooden handle for inking. Once I inked the stencil using the ink colors I moved the stencil to the corners so I could continue inking the rest of the white paper. Next was to cut the inked paper into four A2 pieces for the card base. I left some white space for the edges. I used the nesting Altenew Bottle Cap die set for the stamped sentiments using Altenew colored cardstock. I inked the smallest one from the die set. I added some silver thread bundle behind each die for added interest. Simple but colorful cards ready for the mail or for any occasion. Colors can be changed for a totally different look. This Altenew themed Instagram also included uploading a short Video Reel. The Reel is posted on my Instagram page highlighting the process I used to create the card. For this card I used the Altenew Whimisical Garden Layering Die Set. This set includes lots of coordinating and layering dies- flowers, stems and leaves. The only stamping I used was for the stamped and embossed sentiment label from another Altenew Sentiment stamp set.

PHOTOS, DIRECTIONS AND SUPPLIES
For this layout I used a Floating Frame technique, it is hard to see it in the photo. The paper strip uses paper from the Altenew Sea Shore Gradient Cardstock Set adhered to a clear acetate sheet using foam strips to make the strip look like it is floating about the dotted background.
For the layered flower stem I used the two coordinating die pieces from the Altenew Whimisical Garden Layering Die set and white cardstock and adhering it to the floating gradient colored paper piece. One die was the background piece and the second die piece is the outline of the flower stem. This set has lots of layered dies- leaves, and a variety of accent sprigs.
Two other samples with some other card layouts to find the one I liked the best.
This is the final card. I added a detailed debossing plate from Altenew Dotted Tile Debossing Cover diefor the background,Altenew silver thread,Altenew embossing ink, pure white crisp embossing powder. Altenew sentiment strip on black cardstock for the word strip.

The May challenge colors were inspired by a visit to the Conservatory of Flowers, Golden Gate Park located in San Francisco by Jaycee Gaspar. Jaycee is the Inspiration Challenge Host. The colors are Parrot: Tropical Garden, Marigold: Golden Sunset and Purple Wine: Rose Petal.
My card was created using the beautiful inked color combination for the three die cut layered flowers and accent leaves, a debossing plate for the background and a mini sentiment banner. The photos highlight how I created the card.

Altenew ink pads used to create the shades of inked card stock starting with the lightest color on white card stock, I continued to ink white card stock to create the darker shades for the layered petals.
Altenew has a paper pad of shades of green card stock, I used inked paper instead for the leaves.
Here are the inked layering petals I inked for each layered piece, the leaves and the tiny pieces for the center of the flowers.
I inked the leaves and then used the lightest shade of green ink to create the background and then debossed the paper.
I used wet glue to create the layered flowers. Each flower had a small die cut key in the center of each piece as a guide to create each flower. I used foam tape to adhere the flowers to add dimension and tucked the leaves behind the flowers. The background piece was inked using a light shade of green ink, debossed and a rounded corner die on a half sheet of white cardstock. A finishing touch, I sprayed the card front using Avery Elle clear shimmery spray. The shine is a great accent for the layered pieces. flowers. MARCH 2023 COLOR CHALLENGE- A MIX OF GREEN AND STONE COLORS
The March 2023 is all about the green and stone colors inspired by the photo included in the new Altenew Inspiration Challenge. Here are the cards that I created using the color combination for the Challenge.
I created four cards using an easy card technique using one sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ white card stock. I used the Altenew Linear Stencil and several Altenew mini ink cubes in shades of green and a beige distress ink pad. I centered the stencil to the middle of the paper and began inking using the darkest green ink cube using a foam blending pad. Next I added the lighter ink color and working to the edge of the stencil I used the light brown ink. I then moved the stencil to a corner and repeated the same inking color combo. Then I repeated the same for the remaining three corners. Last I cut the stenciled paper into four sections, highlighting the middle inked stencil and then a corner. Using extra inked paper I cut two banners and stamped the sentiments from the Altenew Paint A Flower: Waterlily Dahlia Outline Stamp set- thanks for everything and take care always.
I trimmed and die cut each of the four sections for two A2 cards. I edged the card front with Altenew’s narrow gold foil washi tape to create the look of shiny gold paper backgound. Extra paper pieces were used to create the two die cut banners and the stamped sentiment. Change the colors for the inking and you have a totally different look.

NEW CARDS AND NEW TECHNIQUES
The new release stamps and coordinating dies and embossing folders showcase the beautiful new stamps. Here are the cards I created using the new stamps and materials.
TECHNIQUES AND SUPPLIES
Creating these cards that showcase flowers gave me a chance to use a few different techniques and Altenew stamping resorces- stamps, coordinating dies, embossing folders , layering stencils, background stencils , washi tape,debossing plate, watercolors and ink cubes. I hope you are inspired to try some of these easy technqiues and stamping resources.
This small but awesome stamp-Altenew Mini Delight Budding Wallpaper Layering stamp set and coordinating dies inspired me to create a picture frame layout. I stamped the flowers and stems using Altenew ink cubes to create the two flowers, After piecing the flowers to create the two stems and bud, I die cut a few more pieces from white card to create dimension. I used the 3D Baroque embossing folder and gold paper and the die to create the frame. Then I die cut a few more frames using white card stock to create layers, I stenciled the background using Altenew’s Fine Tulle, blending brush and ink cubes. Extra paper die cut banners for the stamped sentiments. I used a clear glitter pen to outline the flowers and greenery for some sparkle.
This set is Altenew Paint a Flower Modern Pink Dianthus outline stamp. I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper and painted the flowers using Altenew 12 half pan set watercolor paint box. The gold accent frame was created using Altenew washi tape- gold glitter, and gold stripe washi tape. I added the washi tape to a piece of white card stock to outline the edge of the paper. An easy technique to try and you don’t need glitter paper to create the background. Gold stripe tape on white card stock and then die cut it and added it to the sentiment group. I inked splattered the back ground and covered the flowers with scrap paper. The final piece was to spray the stamped piece using Altenew shimmery irridescent spray. A shimmery card.
The next two cards I used the Altenew Craft Your Life Watercolor Flowers. These cards I stamped the flower images on white card stock and used the layering stencil to color the leaves and flowers. I die cut the pieces and also layered them for dimension. I die cut one more large flower and fussy cut it and layered it over the stamped piece. I added extra stems to tuck behind the colored image. This set had lots of options to create layering. I stenciled the background using the same Altenew stencil and distress ink cube. The coordinating sentiments and the shaped dies are great and different. A gold thread bundle behind the shaped sentiment at some shine. I used the same clear glitter pen to outline the petals and leaves.
This card using the same flower die and for this one I used the coordinating Altenew embossing folder. I embossed the blue card stock first to create the background. Then embossed it again on another piece of the same blue card stock. Next, I die cut the embossed image. I used Altenew clear ink to swipe over the piece, then added Altenew white embossing powder and heat set the white powder. Because the embossed image is dimensional the ink covered some of the die cut flower and not others. I stamped and die cut the sentiment and cut several from white card stock for dimension. It fit in that small space to complete the card.

TECHNIQUES I USED FOR THE FOUR GRATITUDE CARDS
I used several different techniuques to demonstrate how versatile this Altenew With Gratitude stamp and coordinating dies are.
Use the maple leave dies to create a paper stencil
Ink white card stock using different shades of orange to create inked background paper
Die cut the leaves from the inked paper
Stamp the outline of the leaves on the inked paper using Versamark ink, add white embossing powder and heat set. The die cut the leaves.
Select two different shades of green ink to double stamp the leaves. Then stamp the outline of the leaves using black ink.
Use wide gold line washi tape for two of the cards
Mask the edges of a 1/4 sheet of white card stock that will create a border. I used wide white Post It tape to cover the sides and then stamped the leaves using black ink.

TAKE A LOOK AT MY CARDS AND MINI-BOX
TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS USED
To create the inked paper I used Altenew liquid inks- Eastern Sky, Iceburg, Ultramarine and Azurite. I used Altenew’s Fine Tulle stencil to add color to the inked paper and white card stock. The text/stamped tags were from the Altenew Craft Your Live Project kit Feathered Lilies. The die cut layered pieces are from Altenew’s Soda Top nesting die set. The large die cut Smile was also from Altenew. I inked the paper, stamped the word and then die cut it from the inked paper. I covered the opening with die cut white paper and added the die cut Smile to the die cut piece. I continued to die cut pieces from the inked paper then layered the pieces to create the front of the card. For the mini box, I created a box from white card stock and inked another piece of white card stock and cut the pieces to cover the sides and top of the box. I dyed the white cotton fabric ribbon using more alcohol inks. Then a mini tag using the smallest die from the soda pop nesting die set.
