Welcome to the newest Altenew’s Educators Blog Hop! The theme/topic for this Hop is “Anything But A Card”. I have the perfect project to share with you. I used some of my favorite Altenew products- pattterned paper, Washi tape and a stamp with a matching die.
For my “Anything But A Card” project I repurposed an upainted 5″ x7″ wooden easel picture frame. Here are some photos of the repurposed picture frame.
HOW I REPURPOSED A PLAIN WOODEN PICTURE FRAME- FROM ORDINARY TO EXTRORDINARY USING ALTENEW PRODUCTS.
I had this 5″ x 7″ wooden picture in my collection of card making supplies and mixed media projects for a long time. It needed an upgrade. I painted the wooden frame with white acrylic paint to cover the unpainted frame. I used the Altenew Many Dots wide washi tape to wrap the frame starting from the inside edge, the sides and the back of the frame. I used a craft knife to create the mitered corners.

I then selected a watercolored background paper from the Altenew Summer Garden 6″ x6″ paper pack. The watercolored blueish paper was a great contrast to the black and white dots on the frame.
Next, I stamped the outline Smile stamp from the Altenew Halftone Smile stamp set on blue paper. I used the coordinating Altenew smile die for the stamped smile word. I die cut a 2″ x 3 1/4″ white card stock rectangle and stamped the word ‘just’ from the same Atlenew stamp set onto the white rectangle and then glued the smile die to the tag. I used foam tape behind the smile die cut word to pop it up from the background paper. The last step was to secure the easel back cardboard to the frame. Done! A big step up from the plain wooden frame. So, if you have a wooden frame that is boring and needs an upgrade, use Altenew washi tape, word stamps, Altenew patterned paper and a coordinating die to go from plain to fabulous.

Love that frame. I’ve decorated frames with paint, patterned papers, etc., many times, but I’ve never thought of using washi! Guess I need to take another look at Altenew’s gorgeous selection!
