Altenew Card Blog
Washi tape is such a versatile crafting/card making accessory for a variety of paper crafting projects. Here are a few examples that I have created for this Altenew Hop. I hope you are inspired to include Washi tape in your projects as well. My selects include cards, a mini mixed media tag booklet and a 5″ x 7″ wooden picture frame. Altenew has a wonderful collection of Washi tapes to select from so let’s get started! Here are my samples-
Washi Tape Paper Projects
I used a variety of Altenew Washi tapes- glittery gold and silver tape, wide black and white dot tape and wide gold string lines. Each type of Washi tape adds that special focal point for each project. Here is the what I did-
I created the green background using Altenew green ink cubes to paint bold brush strokes for each section. A gold washi tape stripe was added to create sections. I splattered ink drops for accents. I stamped and die cut using Altenew stamps and rounded corner rectangle Altenew dies. A small punched gold star was added for accents. Simple and ready for any occasion.
Altenew rounded corner layered/ nesting dies for the card. Each tag was inked with a variety of Altenew pink ink cubes. I stamped a word in each tag using black ink and added a strip of Altenew silver washi tape. This created a different visual effect by adding the tags both horizontally and vertically to cover the A2 card front size. Easy way to use inks, die cuts and sparkly silver washi tape.
This time I added the wide gold line Altenew washi tape as a focal point for the bottom of the card. The roses and leaves were stamped and die cut. I covered the bottom section of the A2 card front with the wide Altenew gold stripe washi tape. I die cut a rounded scalloped edge for the pink paper, stamped and die cut a word sentiment from an Altenew stamp set and some gold thread. I added the roses and leaves. Using the washi tape added another pattern that coordinated all of the pieces.
This project was a mixed media tag booklet. I used a variety of Altenew stamps -mini medallion stamp, solid canopy leaf branch and embossed and word stamps. Each mini panel has a ink washed background, stamped and clear embossed canopy leaf branch, stamped medallion for each mini panel and mini word tags from white paper and added to each section. I used the wide black and white dot washi tape to tape each secion together. I like that the black and white dots add different visual interest to the mixed media tag booklet.
This humble 5″ x7″ wooden picture frame got a face lift using the wide black and white dot washi tape. I wrapped the frame sides, the inside frame edge and towards the back of the frame. I mitered each corner as well. I added a piece of Altenew paper for the background piece. I created the word rectangle die using a stamp and die set from Altenew. The simple color combo- black, white and blue added the focal point of the frame. The frame has an easel stand in the back for display.
