A 2021 ALTENEW YEAR IN REVIEW

ALTENEW 2021 CARD IN REVIEW

As 2021 is coming to a close, it is the perfect time to revisit Altenew cards and projects that I created for Altenew Blog Hops, and Instagram Hops and for other occasions. I enjoy revisiting cards, mixed media projects and other related paper samples as they inspire new cards. I keep these samples/prototypes and include notes inside the cards to remind me of the stamps/dies sets I used, markers, inks, stencils, paper and techniques for each card or project. A helpful reminder and is a great inspiration for new cards.

Altenew: A Year in Review Blog Hop + Giveaway 2021

MY TOP FAVORITE CARDS FOR ALTENEW 2021

After reviewing all of the many cards I created in 2021, it was really challenging to select my top five. I selected these because they each represented a different technique – 3D embossing folder, a layered flower die and background die,a layered stenciled background, layered stamped flower, layered die cuts for added dimension and debossing cover plate die.

SWEET MOMENTS-POTS AND PLANTS STAMPS AND DIES

Pots and Plants Stamp & Die Bundle

Sweet Moments- Pots and Plants stamps and die

I selected this card and stamp set as it was different and it featured different elements-potted plants. I stamped the three different plants and containers on watercolor paper and water colored them using Altenew blue and green ink cubes. I also stamped the plant container again and painted those, die cut them and layered them on top of the other containers for dimension. The background was stenciled using the Altenew Tree Ring stencil and green ink cubes. Each of the plants and pots was adhered to the stenciled background using liquid glue in the center of the plant dies. This added dimension to the images. I added the stamped sentiment and tucked it behind the largest plant foliage.

SWEET MOMENTS HAPPY PETALS

Sweet Moments Happy Petals stamp and die

I used the stamp and coordinating die from Altenew Sweet Moments released set. I used mixed media paper for stamping and painting. I die cut a second one to use for layering. I painted the bouquet using Altenew ink cubes. I used the Altenew Dotted Swiss debossing cover plate for the background. The gold metallic paper was die cut using Altenew Fine Frames using the largest die from the set. I added the stamped sentiments to the card on a A2 top fold white card base.

3D EMBOSSING FOLDER

Altenew 3D Embossing folder and inked

The Altenew 3 D embossing folder created a beautiful image alone on heavy weight white card stock. I painted the raised image using a light watercolor wash was using Altenew ink cubes in yellow, green and light blue. A tiny word stamp and narrow die cut was adhered using foam tape for a raised visual feature. That was all this card needed.

CRAF T A FLOWER-CAROLINA ALL SPICE LAYERED DIES

Altenew Craft A Flower Carolina All Spice Layering Dies

For this card I used the layering flower die from Altenew Craft A Flower set- Carolina All Spice set. I inked white card stock using an Altenew yellow ink cube and die cut all of the layered pieces. The smallest and last die cut piece, I colored using an orange Copic marker. For the leaves I used a green cardstock from an Altenew cardstock from the Green Meadows gradient cardstock set colors. Light blue card stock was used for the Altenew burlap texture die. I kept some of the piece in place for added interest. The thanks Altenew die was die cut from glossy black card stock and was layered for added dimension.

CRAFT YOUR LIFE PROJECT KIT- VINTAGE TAPESTRY

Craft Your Life Project Kit: Vintage Tapestry

Craft Your Life- Vintage Tapestry layering stamp

The flowers and leaves were stamped using layering stamps from the Altenew’s Craft Your Life Project Kit- Vintage Tapestry set. The flowers were stamped and layered using Altenew purple ink cubes and yellow ink for the center of the flower. Green ink cubes were used for the layered leaves. Coordinating dies were used for the three flowers and leaf clusters. I used the Altenew layered stencil from the Vintage Tapestry set for the background and Altenew purple ink cubes. The coordinating stamped sentiment was die cut from a small circle die and I used foam tape for dimension to adhere the circle sentiment to the raised purple flower.

  1. I reall y like the potted plants cards and wish I had purchased that set. But I am really liking the Burlap Texture Die where you left some of the cut pieces in the die for your background — how cool is that!

  2. Great look at some of the projects shared. Thanks for the design ideas. Hope you have a wonderful new year!
